About Me

About Me - Sophie Pavia

I am a graduate student in Vanderbilt University’s Department of Computer Science, advised by Prof. Abhishek Dubey. I work as a research assistant in the ScopeLab research group where I apply fairness in decision making to cyber-physical systems. I also work with the SmartTransit.AI group to solve classic transit problems through the lens of equity.

Prior to this, I was a research assistant at BigLab! at Florida State University, working under Prof. Michael Gubanov during my undergraduate. During my time at BigLab!, I focused on the intersection of machine learning and data management, working on projects such as COVIDKG.ORG and web-scale tabular data classification.

My research interests include AI for Social Good, fairness in decision making, Big Data, and cyber-physical systems. For more information, check out my publications and projects
